| Customer Reviews: This product is normally around 20.00, not 81.00! September 9, 2007 Veronica K. Shadow (Armpit, California) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I noticed that the ad lists the normal retail price of this item as being over $80.00. Not true. It is normally around $17-25.00. Besides, the 5.0 UVB bulb while being good for most tropical reptiles, is not sufficient for bearded dragons who require the 8.0 UVB or higher. They only last for 6 months at optimum UVB levels before needing replacement. It will still work, but won't be good for your pet after that time. It is a good bulb, not the best, but the best for the money. If you need a better bulb that lasts longer the megaSBray and other sodium mercury vapor bulbs have been recommended to me by breeders, etc. but I haven't bought one yet due to expense.
Excellent, space-saving, alternative to larger and longer bulbs August 7, 2007 T. Hada (New Jersey) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Yes this gives good enough UVB for your friendly chelonian. This bulb can be used in standard clamp lamps that have a ceramic holster. It runs at only 28 watts so don't expect it to be a good basking lamp on it's own. It's more of a supplement to your regular incandescent. The nicest treat, I think, is that it's self ballasted; so you won't have any other expensive equipment to buy other than the clamp lamp.
Anyway, the point is... If you have a setup that involves you being unable to install the larger more traditional fluorescent lamp covers and you want UVB lighting for your reptile this is an excellent alternative.
