| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Nubs, an Iraqi dog of war book, never had a home or a person of his own. He was the leader of a pack of wild dogs living off the land and barely surviving. But Nubs's life changed when he met Marine Major Brian Dennis. The two formed a fast friendship, made stronger by Dennis's willingness to share his meals, offer a warm place to sleep, and give Nubs the kind of care and attention he had never received before. Nubs became part of Dennis's human "pack" until duty required the Marines to relocate a full 70 miles away--without him. Nubs had no way of knowing that Marines were not allowed to have pets.So began an incredible journey that would take Nubs through a freezing desert, filled with danger to find his friend and would lead Dennis on a mission that would touch the hearts of people all over the world.Nubs and Dennis will remind listeners that friendship has the power to cross deserts, continents, and even species.

first time disappointed August 7, 2010 K. Bennett (St Petersburg Florida) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a long time customer and buy frequently, at least monthly for multiple purchases. I ordered "Nubs" for a gift. the qualtity of the book was horrible. the hardcover was dented and broken on front and back and the pages were dented. this appeared to be a printing error with the glued on back and front pages bumpy. it was a very poor quality and for the first time I was disappointed in an amazon product. I was confident that my order would have come in good condition as previous orders have come. I did not have time to return the book for a better quality copy so I went to Barnes and Noble to purchase a quality copy.
I will continue to purchase from amazon but not with the same confidence.
Great story, great subject June 21, 2010 Jay L. Graham (Arlington, Texas United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a well-illustrated children's book, that will be heartwarming to any adult, teen, or child. It's a story of the importance of kindness, loyalty, and concern for others. We bought a copy to take to the USO "United Through Reading" room for troops coming through Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, headed for Afghanistan and Iraq. They have a free video made there, of the parent reading the book, which is then sent to the child, with the book. A perfect match of book, subject, and use!
Outstanding book! June 7, 2010 Dwayne Herbel (Kent, Wa) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
When I read this book it brought tears to my eyes!! I bought it for my 9 year old grandaughter. She has read the book several times and it is one of her favorites. This is a great kids book with a great outcome at the end of the story. Buy it you'll like it!!
Inspirational love story of a dog and his master June 2, 2010 Margaret Putnam (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a WONDERFUL inspirational story of a dog and his LOVE for his master. A dog who never knew what love was. A marine who needed the dog just as much as the dog needed him.
It is a Lassie Come Home kind of a story. Keep a tissue handy because you will need it. It is heartwarming and is a story for all ages. I can't wait to read it to my students. It shows the human side of a marine, a loyalty side of a dog, and the people who cared enough to help bring the dog home. A book I will read many times over.
A really great book! June 1, 2010 Kathryn Mardt Bernhard I bought this book for my grandson and he just loved it. He took it to school right away to share with the other children. He's just learning to read but he can tell you the whole story by heart and has announced to everyone that he is joining the Marines.
